The Next Topic
When someone hears the word "southerner" a handful of negative stereotypes come to mind: redneck, racist, underdeveloped, etc. However, these are far from accurate. There are many aspects of southern culture that are extremely positive and need to be celebrated. Find an example of positive southern identity and be creative because there are plenty of characteristics out there (i.e.. hard working/blue collar).

Everyone has heard of southern hospitality and outside of Atlanta where people try to cut each other off at any chance, I think its kind of true. I know in my grandma's hometown of Union Point everyone knows everyone and are very recieving. People let hte kids of the town use their pools and such.
As Dylan stated in the question people who aren't from the south tend to have a stereotype of people from the south that is tried to fit everyone who resides here. I beg to differ; universities and institutions in the south display advancement in technology, athletics, literature, and healthcare technology that have affected everyone in the US. The Alabama Crimson Tide Football team this year has shed a positve light on the south has been a good role model for other institutions.
